Activities

There is a continuous effort by the centre that at every phase of any event undertaken/organised, the prime objectives of the cell is fulfilled in order to instill that sense amongst its students so that they can reach to their passion in the right way. There are many events/expert-talks/workshops being organised by CEEE on an on-going basis which are highlighted below:

First Boot-camp

pic01CEEE conducted its first one-day Entrepreneurship Boot-camp in the campus of Chitkara University on 16th September, 2015. To earmark the beginning of a new revolution of entrepreneurship, venture funding and start-ups in the Northern region of the Nation, Chitkara University-CEEE invited eminent personalities from the entrepreneurs’ community viz the Start-up Accelerator Chamber of Commerce, Punjab Chapter and the Progressive Punjab to jointly organise this event.The event was a real-time experience for our students who can a whole lot of different insights and perspectives. The boot camp had three jury members from the US to judge the final business plans of the students.

ISB-SACC Start-Up Weekend

pic02Students of Engineering Departments participated in the ISB-SACC-Progressive Punjab Start-up Weekend held at EDC, IT Park, Chandigarh from 24th to 26th October, 2015. The students were robustly involved into the similar model of start-up weekend which is a very common trend in the US. The final business plan presentations were held at ISB, Mohali. The students made their business idea pitches for 60 seconds after that they were given structures mentoring sessions followed by their final business plan presentation at ISB, Mohali on 29th October, 2015.

Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship Workshop

pic03Centre of Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education (CEEE) organised as part of the NEN E Week 2016 the first ever event in North India called the Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship Workshop from 15th to 17th Jan, 2016. 120 engineering students of Chitkara University participated in the event which was entirely offered as a choice based credit course. This was a lifetime experience for the students as it opened their path to pursue their passion in the field of entrepreneurship. The students were given few overview of the subject of entrepreneurship, followed by their individual business idea pitches, structured mentoring by established entrepreneurs and final business plan presentation. There were three teams who won the business plan competition on day three. The program was conducted by Prof Madhuri Sharma jointly with lead Evangelist of Chandigarh Angel Network Mr Vineet Khurana.

National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) Entrepreneurship Week

pic04CEEE celebrated for the first time National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) Entrepreneurship Week 2016 from 20th to 27th Feb, 2016. There were more than 20 activities that the CEEE organised in Chitkara University, HP involving more than 1000 student E-leaders. Chitkara University contested for Overall Championship Award & Innovations Award. Students from various departments took part in all the activities and they really ignited the true spirit of entrepreneurship on the campus. The grand finale of the Awards night would be held in Vivekananda Institute of Technology, Jaipur. A team of three students would be there to participate in the Gala Finale.

TiE Conference

pic05Chitkara University co-hosted the TiE Conference at Hotel Lalit, IT Park, Chandigarh on the 19th Feb, 2016. It was the first ever conference being organised in Chandigarh exclusively to boost the start-up culture and leverage the start-up ecosystem in Chandigarh region. There were eminent personalities as the speaker panel members; some to mention were Mr Sachin Bansal-CEO, Flipkart, Vijay Shekhar Sharma-CEO, PayTM, Abhinav Bindra-Indian Shooter & Entrepreneur, Vivek Atray-Director, Industries, Govt of Haryana, David Lelloitt-British Deputy High Commissioner and many more. Dr Madhu Chitkara was the speaker one of the panel discussions along with Mr Vivek Atray on the topic “Destination Chandigarh-Life, Success & Start-ups”. Chitkara University looks forward to take this start-up trend forward and contribute towards the Nation’s vision of Start-up-Stand-up India.

Expert Talk by Mr HimanshuBatra-Ex-Google Employee from Silicon Valley

pic0617th February, 2016 marked the advent of going ahead with the Nation’s vision of Digital India. CEEE organised an expert talk by Mr HimanshuBatra. Himanshu was working with Google and on his return to his motherland India he launched Acadview, Ltd-The Digitization platform for all University certificates and transcripts.Born and brought up in a small town in Haryana,Mr Himanshu did his engineering in Comp Sc. from Kurukshetra University followed by a Masters in MIS from Chicago. Right during his masters, he started his web development company where he helped the SMBs in Chicago region go online with their businesses. Next he joined a small consulting firm in Chicago followed by IBM and the Google. Last year he returned back to India to start his own education tech company and has been working with governments and universities in 4 different states in the north and Karnataka in the south. Mr Himanshu headed the Indian network in Google for many years, hosted a lot of political parties n Indian events and also organised and danced with no other than King Khan of Bollywood, SRK in his tenure in California.
The topic of the expert talk was “Trends of Venture Capital Funding; Digital Revolution and Entrepreneurial Ventures in Digital Space”. The CSE students had a really overwhelming session with Mr Batra. Such platforms open up many new and novel thinking amongst the students and help to ignite the true of entrepreneurship.
