The transition from college to the workforce can be jarring and in order to address the fears that crop up in the minds of undergraduates, Aaditya Khanna, Technology Analyst at Infosys and Savvy Aggarwal, Training Lead, Asia-Pacific, Veeva Systems, Mumbai, alumni (CSE batch 2014) of Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, addressed the third year CSE Students on Transition from ‘College to Corporate World’.

Aaditya and Savvy stated that while life will pull you in a million directions after graduation, there are some pillars that help students stay focused on during their journey. They said, “There is a sure shot chance that your first job post-college will be bumpy because you are fresh out of a college. The learning curve will probably be unreasonable, you may feel anxious, and people will have realistic expectations that you’ll be able to add to the business’s goals. It is normal and there is nothing to worry about. The mantra is to keep going and aim for the best your caliber can deliver.”

The session was indeed a learning experience for our students. It is always a pleasure for us to have our alumni around to guide our students. They know about both worlds, be it college or after that.

The students asked several questions about the transition that were eagerly taken up by our visiting alumni and we thank them for being with us and helping our young minds.
