Chitkara University Successfully Concludes 4th ICAN 2024 Empowering Future Leaders

Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, recently held the 4th edition of its flagship engineering event, the International Conference on Computing, Analytics, and Networks (ICAN 2024), bringing together nearly 300 delegates from around the world. The hybrid-format conference showcased significant global engagement, with 619 research submissions from 13 countries, highlighting its growing international appeal. Of these, 93 research papers were presented across 15 technical sessions, with selected works to be published in two special issues of the SN Computer Science Journal, indexed by Scopus and published by Springer Nature.

The highlight of ICAN 2024 was a dynamic panel discussion on “The Impact of GenAI on Education, Research, and Industry – A 360° Perspective.” This session featured distinguished thought leaders from academia and industry. Among the panellists were Dr. Sandhir Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University, Punjab; Raghav Gupta, Managing Director of Coursera (India and Asia Pacific); Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi D’Souza, Head of CSE, IIIT Bangalore; Rasesh Shah, Chief Product Officer of Fractal Analytics; and Samit Sawal, Product Technical Architect at Infosys, Chandigarh. Their insightful discussions explored the far-reaching implications of Generative AI across multiple sectors, drawing attention to its transformative potential.

In her keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi D’Souza delivered an in-depth presentation on the “Testing of Large-Scale IoT Applications,” offering expert insights into the challenges and opportunities in the field of Internet of Things (IoT). Her talk was a major highlight of the event, contributing to the intellectual rigour that defined the conference.

ICAN 2024 also featured four invited talks from globally renowned speakers: Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Z. Zamli from Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia; Dr. Abhijat Vichare, Operations Manager at ACM India; Dr. Sunil Gupta, Professor at UPES Dehradun; and Dr. Bonny Banerjee, Associate Professor at The University of Memphis, USA. Their presentations provided cutting-edge perspectives on topics ranging from computing innovations to the future of analytics, further enhancing the scope of the conference.

The success of ICAN 2024 was made possible through the collaboration of its partners. Springer Nature served as the Publication Partner, Coursera as the Knowledge Partner, and technical societies such as the Chandigarh ACM Professional Chapter, Chitkara ACM Chapter, and Coding Ninjas lent their support to the event.

The conference was organised by a dedicated team led by Dr. Rajnish Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, as the General Chair. Key members of the organising committee included Dr. Sagar Juneja (Local Organizing and Publication Chair), Dr. Monit Kapoor and Dr. Meenu Khurana (Technical Program Chairs), and Dr. Rishu Chhabra and Dr. Darpan Anand (Reviewer Committee Chairs), whose collective efforts were instrumental in the seamless execution of the event.
