CUHP ranks 3rd among ‘Central/Deemed/State Private Universities’ in Himachal Pradesh with AAA+ rating by Careers360
Chitkara University has topped the charts in the rankings by ‘CAREERS360’ magazine. Chitkara University Institute of Engineering and Technology has been ranked 3rd among top ‘Central/Deemed/State Private Universities in Punjab and Chandigarh’ with an AAA+ rating in ’India’s Best Engineering Colleges 2021’ by Careers360. This year Careers360 also came out with its first-ever ranking of Best Design and Architecture Colleges, in which Chitkara University Punjab ranked 17th among ’30 Best Design Institutes in India’ and 44th among ’50th Best Architecture Institutes in India’. In Addition, Chitkara University Himachal Pradesh has also been ranked 3rd among top ‘Central/Deemed/State Private Universities in Himachal Pradesh’ with an AAA+ rating in ’India’s Best Engineering Colleges 2021’ by Careers360.
The main objective of careers360 ranking is to help students decide the top-ranked colleges where they can seek admission. The parameters used to rank/rate colleges are relevant to aspirants and are pre-requisite for colleges for providing an intellectual ecosystem. Each year, Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains. Only those universities are rated/ranked among these that give transparent data as asked by careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated, and the scores are used to split them into clusters.
The academic scene in India, which is dominated by engineering in professional courses, is vast and evolving. Many institutions are now discussing the most up-to-date academic research tools, peer-reviewed publications, and worldwide indexing databases like Web of Science and Scopus. Some institutions, on the other hand, have no idea what incubation units are or how to create intellectual property (IP).IP creation and its protection is not a priority among Indian institutes and the difference with their global counterpart is huge.
In total, India has around 3500 engineering institutes that offer a wide range of engineering programs. The ranking of over 1200 institutes that offer BE/B.Tech or equivalent required a challenging process of shortlisting half of the institutes based on the candidate’s most favoured option of the institute where admission was sought.
The first stage comprised recording the cutoff score/rank in various entrance tests for open/general category candidates in the first counselling round after determining the best opening rank/score as well as the closing rank/score for the last candidate in the same round. The third stage involved analysing recent placement records and using median (preferred) or average salary; for intellectual property, both granted and filed applications of institutions were searched from the Indian Patent Advanced Search System by entering the respective universities name in the Applicants’ Name or Applicant’s address search box using the “Inventor’s Address” search field; and for intellectual property, both granted and filed applications of institutions were searched from the Indian Patent Advanced Search System by entering the respective universities name in the Applicants’ Name or Applicant’s address. The three stages were given an estimated weightage of 40:30:30. A cumulative rating was generated for all the institutes that occupy the same output pool. The robustness of data enabled us to discriminate and categorize on the basis of both region and type of institutions such as Institutions of National Importance (INIs), Central Universities, Deemed to be Universities and State Private Universities. State Universities and affiliated colleges are rated in the third category.
