He has completed his M. Phil and Ph.D. in Atomic and Radiation Physics from Nuclear Science Laboratories, Punjabi University, Patiala- India. In conjunction with his career of 17 years in teaching and research, he has been accumulating distinguished experiences in the University since its inception. Dr Sharma initiated several reforms to strengthen and safeguard the examination systems in terms of secrecy, transparency and digitalization of students credentials on NAD/Digilocker etc.
His research interests include; Atomic inner shell studies, X-ray fluorescence and its applications in environmental restoration. He is a life member of Indian society for Atomic and Molecular Physics (ISAMP), Indian Society for Radiation Physics (ISRP) and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He is an active member of the research group working on synchrotron radiations at RRCAT-Indore (DAE-Unit) and is instrumental in conducting and designing various experiments. He has delivered various talks related to his research in India and abroad. He has authored one book, filed five patents and published number of research papers in reputed Journals and conference proceedings.
He was commissioned into DOGRA REGIMENT in 1989. His work experience spans 32 years during which he has worked on various Command and Staff appointments. He has worked at the Ministry of Defence as a Director Perspective Planning devising strategies for modernization and cost optimization of Indian Army. He has vast experience in implementing modern security practices, procedures and vigilance measures. He has worked as an Observer at DR Congo under United Nations. He joined Chitkara University, HP Campus as Dean Administration in Jul 2021.
